Knitting Socks for God

If I were to knit a pair of socks for Your precious feet, Lord, where would I begin?

How many skeins of yarn would it take? What would be their color, texture, cost? Where would I find a yarn, made by human hands, worthy of clothing the feet of God?
"Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet..."
For yes, you have feet like ours. Toes and ticklish, maybe, standing and walking and running through the heavens and earth of Your design.

Anointed with tears, they were. Wiped with the soft hair of a daughter's bowed head.

Pierced and bleeding for children who knew not what they did.

Would you wear the socks made by one of those children? If she found the right needles, the best pattern, the necessary time to knit a wearable work of art for her Creator, would You accept her offering?
"...But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams."
Teach her, Lord, for You have led the way.

The fibers are Your Spirit, weaving her heart together with Yours. The needles are Your hands, guiding her every step. Your Wisdom is the pattern. Your Love, the foundation of her gift to You.

Because everything she needs, everything she hopes to give, You have already given her.

And all her dreams are found in the gentle footprints You have left on her soul.

Healed By His Wounds

  4. Oh, this is beautiful. Wonderfully beautiful. As a weaver, crocheter, and a little bit lousy knitter, I so appreciate the weaving you have done to write these words. It mesmerized me as I read. I am so grateful that God brought me here from Thought-Provoking Thursday. This truly is thought provoking.
