Even When the Sky Is Falling

"The Lord upholds all who are falling
and raises up all who are bowed down."

Depression is a sky.

One day may be downcast, filled to the brim with clouds that hang heavy on the horizon. Another day the clouds may lift, gathered up in one giant indrawn breath and then replaced with a sigh of sunshine. For days the air may breathe in living color, hues of light-hearted laughter mixed on a palette of sunrisen hopes and sunset hurts.

They are past, those dark days. And then, wham! it seems like they are back to stay. They may linger long -- long like shadows as the sun sinks lower, lower, and lower still -- until the hand on life's sundial is frozen fast in the night, and time stops. Or so it seems.

Skies are changeable like moods. Their tints and shades cannot be counted, and rarely are they 100% predictable.

But one thing is for certain: behind the clouds, whether visible or not, there is always a sun. No matter what the hemisphere or the tilt of the earth or even in an eclipse, the source of our light never goes away.

And so it is for the person of faith, whose hope of light is a knowing, a promise. Even in the deadest night, the Son shines into broken hearts. Even when the sky is falling, His love never dies.

And He is the only cure for the fallen whom He died to raise.

"You gotta face the clouds to find the silver lining..."

  2. Yes, even there's a day of not feeling well, a bit of rest and I'm better, headache gone. I like the Kutless song your linked to. One of my favorite songs. Hopping over from Deidra's Sunday Tandem blog link ups. Thanks for your thoughts! Have a great week!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Becky. It's certainly an encouraging song about overcoming the odds: "When the world says you can't / [Faith] will tell you that YOU CAN!" Love it.

      God bless you,
