Wild Elegance
The white roses are blooming. Everywhere.
In the hedgerows you can see them, growing on whatever they can find. Shimmying up fuzzy sumac poles and cascading over countless fence posts with rusty barbed wire. Weaving together with new tender grapevines and dangling from anonymous scrub trees. Along quiet country footpaths and busy, traveled roads -- tucked away in unexpected corners -- there they are: roses.
Spreading lacy tablecloths of graceful beauty over a landscape grown wild.
And if it's not the spectacle of bride-white blooms that catches the eye, it's their scent -- one as sweet and somnolent as birdsong at dusk.
They are a tender reminder.
God loves us just where we are.
He spreads His pure mantle out wide, refreshing and restoring even the most tangled, desolate soul. He reaches us, everywhere and anywhere, just as we are.
And He transforms us, wild and lost, into something beautiful.
God's garden.

What a beautiful thought. The flowers are so pretty. I'm thinking these look a lot like wild blackberry bushes though rather then roses.
ReplyDeleteGreetings, Ida, and thanks for your visit!
DeleteThese multiflora roses might be considered invasive, but I think they're a delight -- and would be even more so if they produced luscious blackberries to boot! But, their perfume is an even sweeter taste on the air, for which I'm grateful.
Blessings to you this Sunday,
