The Song of 5:36

5:36 a.m.

A Poem.

It's a moment
Like any other,
Passed now and over;
Yet still I see it,
Suspended in time
Like a ceiling mobile,
Dazzlingly floating
Against gravity's pull:
All of creation, in my mind's gaze,
Lifting to You a song of praise.

On a day
Like any other,
I rose early, you see,
And saw a splendor
Almost missed:
A sky mile-high
Streaked bronze and blue,
The heavens unfurled as
All of creation, with hands upraised,
Exalted You with a song of praise.

Only after the fact
(In a photo I snapped)
Did I spy the speck of a bird --
Two, actually --
Greeting the day with a song,
The very notes of my heart:
As if, in one moment,
All of creation, in voices raised,
Sang to You a song of praise.

A song of wonder
At the majesty of Your plan,
In which soaring birds and feathered clouds
Worship by simply being
Who and what You made them to be.
Alive to give You glory,
Just like me: for one glorious day
All of creation, with hearts unfazed,
Will bless Your Name with lives of praise.

Add your voice with mine?

P.S. Another moment, another song...

  2. You sure do have a heart for the Creation. Thanks for sharing these beautiful words with us. I especially like the mobile "[d]azzlingly floating" and your description of "feathered clouds"...such vivid, playful images. Keep singing, my friend. :-)
