You're Not Alone

"Everybody needs a friend. Even a tree."

I can just hear Bob Ross saying this, whenever his fan brush would paint a "happy little tree" next to one standing alone.

This delightful TV-painter not only taught us the Joy of Painting. He gave us a vivid illustration of compassion, the essence of true friendship.

Literally, compassion means "to suffer together" (from the Latin compati). True friends never abandon us when disaster strikes. They never abandon us period.

This is our great God. Ever-present. Never forsaking. Suffering with us, all of our days. The Best Friend who longs for our hearts in return.

After the death of Moses, when God called Joshua to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land, He didn't turn him into a superhuman warrior. He didn't give him a vast army. He gave him a promise: "I will never leave you."

"Be not afraid,
neither be dismayed,
for the Lord your God is with you
wherever you go."

You're not alone.

I'm so happy to see you here again. Yes, it's been a long time. Thanks for inspiring me, as always. Consider this an "Ode to the Yellow Chair"!

      Love ya!
