| And the Veil Was Torn from Top to Bottom |
Crossing the threshold of a new life,
Stepping into the new home you’ve given me,
I find you there at every turn,
Often in places I least expect.
A concrete floor becomes a picture window,
Mauve-colored cement bearing Your Love-likeness
As light streams through teal-tinted windows,
The panes’ shadowed cross-beams
Laying flat for Your frame as at Calvary.
I gaze in wonder as Your Cross is painted on my mind;
Breeze-blown curtains, viewed upside-down from my perch,
Split like a bolt of lightning from floor to ceiling
(So fast I see the reverse),
And I remember the veil You tore when it was finished
From top to bottom so as not by human hands.
God's Truth has come knocking, you see,
Calling at the threshold of my heart, "Come, come," and again, "keep on coming,"
For He opened the Door over 2,000 years ago,
Making a Way for you and me no matter how we may feel,
Afraid, hurting, unchanged, old, we are new:
Afraid, hurting, unchanged, old, we are new:
Because what once was torn from top to bottom
Can never be sealed shut from bottom to top.
Can never be sealed shut from bottom to top.

Congratulations on your new blog -- it's lovely and I'm honored you shared your post with us at Tuesday Muse. Thank you! xo
ReplyDeleteHi, Nancy,
DeleteThanks for stopping by! Your words of encouragement are a delightful gift today.
Your blog is an inspiration, particularly your amazing photography, which has a way of drawing both eye and spirit. I come from several generations of New York State dairy farmers (also at one point hop-growers), so perhaps it's the farming blood that draws me to your site, too! One of my all-time favorite photographs is a portrait of my great-grandparents and other farmhands assembled in the field at a hop-pick (all well-garlanded!) around the 1890s. Quite a genre, farm photography!
Keep up the great work, and thanks again for writing. May God bless you and yours...
Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI, too, struggle with clinical depression, as well as a couple of anxiety disorders and OCD. I love anything that reminds me to look to Jesus! May you be blessed!
Praying you find continued healing, friend. I know the anxiety and OCD-like symptoms well. They seem to go hand-in-hand with the depression.
DeleteThank the Lord that He renews and redeems us, including our minds and emotions. I'm glad to see glimmers of this as I learn, more and more, to "lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ" (just love those verses at II Cor. 10:4-5).
I appreciate your dropping by this evening!
Healed by His wounds, we are...
