Day 22: Covered

"I hear God softly whisper,
'My hand shall cover thee.'"

~ From the lyrics to "Tabernacle," by Sharon Huckel, Tabernacle

Help me, Lord Jesus.
I'm sorry...and ashamed.
Wanting to uncover my sin.
Not wanting to hide anything from You.
Releasing.
Sharing with You this part of me,
Hoping that if I invite You into its midst
(Knowing You are always there, but
Acknowledging, desiring Your Presence),
Maybe my sin will cease to be sin.

But I know it doesn't work that way.
Trying to uncover before You
(In my strength)
Has only left me feeling too guilty and impure to approach You;
Unworthy of Your intimacy.
Embarassed at myself.
Yet I believe by faith in Your Grace.
Your brutally scarred Hands have already covered me,
Even though I still struggle in sin and shame.

"And I have put My words in your mouth
and have covered you with the shadow of My hand,
that I may fix the new heavens as a tabernacle
and lay the foundations of a new earth
and say to Zion,
You are My people."

Thank You, Lord, for Your redeeming Love. You have covered all of my sins with Your hand. Where there is shame, You lay the foundations of a new trust in Your Grace. You fix hope in the sanctuary of my heart.

Amen.

    1. Thank you, Karen! The glow just kind of "happened" as I played with the color (originally to give it that 1890s look). So this was a happy discovery along the way, working hand-in-hand with the symmetry and diagonal lines to draw you forward -- like on the hot summer day when I walked that wooden span in wonder!

I like to think it's a glimpse, perhaps, of how God reaches us in our dark places, drawing us closer to Him in His Love and Light.

I appreciate your visit and your thoughts!
